How much are Cardiologists paid
Even amongst cardiologists that can vary considerably. It all depends on whether they r interventionalists, the ones that do procedures such as angiograms, stent placement, & angioplasty. Currently, interventional or procedure oriented activities r paid more that activities that r purely diagnostic or cognitive. Many doctors do not think that is fair but that is the way it is. The salary also depends on where they practice & the types of insurance that is around. Salaries can range from 180,000 to 360,000. It may sound like alot but when u calculate it on an hour basis & then add the 10 years spent to do the training most cardiologists will tell u that it is not a good idea to do the job for the money. The money does not get u up at 2 in the morning to do an emergency angioplasy & then go on to do the next days work with the same intensity.
Its not really about the money. They have to have the heart for it.
About 400,000 a year.
Family practice, which is relatively low paid, can garner up to $200K/yr in certain states.
