Cardiology is the branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the heart & blood vessels. The field is commonly divided in the branches of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease & electrophysiology. Physicians specializing in this field of medicine r called cardiologists.
Diagnoses & treats diseases of heart & its functions: Examines patient for symptoms indicative of heart disorders, using medical instruments & equipment. Studies diagnostic images & electrocardiograph recordings to aid in making diagnoses
specializing in cardiac cases when need for corrective surgery is indicated. May engage in research to study anatomy of & diseases peculiar to heart.
