what requires less studying after and during college
they both r very difficult & competitive fields..
it shouldnt matter what requires less studying.because they both require MANY many years!!! probably the hardest field of medicine because the heart & the brain r the most important organs of the body
the cardiologist is probably a little more competitive though because there r more cases of heart attacks & heart disease than there r brain tumors, etc..
however for a neurologist u have to learn about every field of the body because the brain controls it all..so if someone has a problem in the cerebrum u need to know all about motor control & that kind of stuff.plus psychology & human emotions is important too. if ur interested in becoming either one then u r looking into 10 + years of school & & then probably at least 5 more years voluenteering & after that u will finally get paid
I can tell you that cardiology is the more competitive field. As far as ''difficulty ignoring competitiveness, I can not say.
For cards, you first have to complete your internal medicine residency, then apply to a cardiology fellowship. For neurology, you can match straight after med school. The path to cardiology is longer than the path to neurology.
both require years of intesnse studying, training & dedication. Neither is generally harder than the other. This is like asking what is harded calculus or chemistry, some people will immediatly say calculus & some will say chem, its subjective.
In cardiology u will be focusing on the cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, the components of blood, bone marrow, immune system etc.
and neurology ur dealing with the nervous system, endocrine system, hormones & lipids, spinal cord, brain, nerve cells, protein channels, recepetors, ligands. Your also looking at a large focus in psychology & cognitive development.
read up & see which u like better & r more drawn to.
if your smart enough to do either one and have the will to do it, then the process to become one should not matter, most doctors become a doctor regardless of the amount of studying, they do it because its what they want to do
Both require tough work. Do something because you like it not only for the money and prestige.
