Study and work for Cardiologists (physician)????

After graduation from high school, it typically takes 4 years of college & then 4 additional years of medical school to become a physician (there r some exceptions to this both in the US & in other countries). After medical school, a physician will train for three years as a resident in internal medicine; some will become board-certified in internal medicine right then. whether board-certified in internal medicine (right away) or not, it takes an additional three years of training in cardiology (called a _fellowship_ in cardiology) to be permitted to take the board certifying examinations in cardiology.

Some cardiologists also take 1-3 years additional training to become qualified for areas of cardiology such as interventional cardiology or electrophysiology; others might complete a PhD degree in a related field taking 2-5 more years.

Beginning cardiologists might typically receive compensation of 150,000 to 250,000 dollars. They might also start their own practices, & their income can be be a function of how hard they work, & how well they run their practices (as a business).

The same is true for more senior cardiologists. Depending on the number & complexity of the cases they see - - but especially on whether they r successful in running the _business_ of their practice - - their income might range from $200,000 to as much as one million dollars or more.
